Wu Ge expands Heyang folk songs, which refer to folk songs in the southern part of Zhangjiagang City, centered on the Heyang Mountain area. According to historical records, folk songs have been sung in the Heyang area since the Ming Dynasty. Heyang folk songs are rich in collections, with more than 1,200 songs handed down so far, covering a wide range of themes. In addition to the widely circulated small folk songs with four-character prefixes, there are also big folk songs and long folk songs. Its distinctive regional characteristics are that many ancient folk songs are still preserved, especially the two-character "Zhuzhu Song", which has been proved by relevant experts to be the lingering sound of "Tan Ge" in the Spring and Autumn Period. Another feature of Heyang folk songs is that peasant singers have preserved a large number of original copies of folk songs. Currently, there are 32 copies and printed copies from the 23rd year of Guangxu (1897) to 1952, which provide precious text materials for the inheritance and research of folk songs.
