The predecessor of Tuoluo Temple was the Lion Grove Dojo. According to the "Jiangpu Picheng", there was originally a "Lion Grove" in Shiziling, which was built in the second year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1645) by the monk Bai'an, and has a history of more than 300 years. The temple is famous for studying scriptures and preaching. Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there have been eminent monks preaching scriptures and practicing Taoism here. During its heyday, there were more than 40 monks living in the temple. Every morning and evening bells and drums, incense was lingering. It was a rare holy place for Buddhist practice, so there were many pilgrims, and the temple fair on the 15th day of the first lunar month every year was extraordinary. The Tuoluo Temple Fair in Shiziling is a major Buddhist activity for Buddhist believers and a pilgrimage activity for local good men and women. According to historical legend, since the construction of the "Tuoluo Temple" in the second year of Shunzhi (1654), there has been a tradition of the 15th day of the first lunar month, which has been passed down to this day. Every year on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, the Shiziling Temple Fair is packed with people. Each pilgrim holds a bunch of incense and comes to burn incense and worship Buddha. Because the "Tuo-Suo Temple" is famous both at home and abroad, pilgrims from afar enter the temple on the fourteenth day of the first lunar month. The monks in the temple give them a warm reception and arrange accommodation and meals. Every year on the first and fifteenth day of each month, pilgrims go to the temple to burn incense and worship Buddha, hoping for good luck. The fifteenth day of the first lunar month is the first day of the year, so the temple fair on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month is even more grand. Good men and women come here to burn incense and worship Buddha, hoping for peace, good weather, family happiness, and prosperity. It is said that the Shiziling Temple Fair has been around for three hundred years. It reached its peak during the Republic of China period. Until the "Cultural Revolution", the incense was extinguished and there were no monks, so the temple fair was interrupted for a time. It was not until the reform and opening up in 1978 that this activity began to be resumed and became increasingly prosperous. Features of the Shiziling Temple Fair 1. Historicity.
