The legend of Confucius' birth
Confucius, the great Confucian saint who has been worshipped for thousands of years, had a rather unsavory origin. The "Historical Records of Confucius" says: Confucius was born in Zouyi, Yulu, Changping, and his ancestor was from Song, named Kong Fangshu. Fangshu gave birth to Boxia, Boxia gave birth to Shulianghe. He and Yan had sex in the wild and gave birth to Confucius, and prayed to Niqiu to get Confucius. Gan Bao of the Jin Dynasty also said in the "Three Days Record": Zhengzai (the daughter of Yan, the mother of Confucius) gave birth to Confucius in Kongsang, now called Kongdou, in Kongdou of the southern mountain of Lu. When Confucius' father Shulianghe was in his sixties, he fell in love with Zhengzai in Kongsang, and the two had sex in the wild and gave birth to Confucius. When Confucius was born, the primitive customs of free sex between men and women were still preserved. The "Zhou Li Di Guan Mei Shi" records: "In the middle of spring, men and women are ordered to meet; at that time, those who ejaculate are not prohibited." That is to say, in the annual gathering of men and women in the middle of spring, men and women can talk about love freely, and no one stops them from having sex. Confucius was the result of Shu Lianghe's free gathering. The son born of this wild sex was recognized by the patriarchal system and society at that time and would not be discriminated against. There are wild sex pictures in the stone reliefs of the Han Dynasty. After Confucius' death, he gradually became the supreme saint recognized by the world. People always felt that his life experience of "born of wild sex" was somewhat shameful, so they beautified and deified Confucius' birth. Since he was a saint, then the birth of a saint had its own reason? In the 21st year of King Ling of Zhou, Confucius was born in the time of Duke Xiang of Lu. At night, two blue dragons descended from the sky and came to Zhengzai's room. Confucius was born because of his dream. Two goddesses came with fragrant dew in the air to bathe Zhengzai. The Emperor of Heaven played the music of Juntian and arranged it in Yan's room. There was a voice in the sky, saying that the heaven was moved to give birth to the Holy Son, and made a harmonious sound of Sheng and Yong, which was different from the world of the valley. There were also five elders in Zhengzai's courtyard, which were the spirits of the five stars. Before Confucius was born, a unicorn spit out a jade book to a family in Queli, saying: "The son of the water spirit will be the king of the declining Zhou Dynasty." Therefore, two dragons circled the room and five stars descended to the courtyard. Zhengzai was wise and knew it was a supernatural power, so he tied an embroidered sash to the unicorn's horn, and the unicorn left after a night. Among the various auspicious signs of Confucius' birth, one point is that Confucius' birth was related to bathing. On the night Confucius' mother Yan Zheng gave birth to Confucius, she dreamed of two blue dragons descending from the sky into her room, and two goddesses holding fragrant dew slowly descending from the sky, bathing Zheng with the dew. At the same time, heaven played fairy music, and a unicorn spit out a jade book. Thus, Zheng gave birth to Confucius. In people's eyes, only these solemn and sacred auspicious signs are worthy of the birth of Confucius, and can dilute his humble origin of "being born out of wedlock". Interestingly, the birth of Confucius, the great sage of Confucianism, and the birth of Sakyamuni, the great sage of Buddhism, are quite similar. The birth of Sakyamuni is also related to bathing. According to the Dunhuang version of the "Buddha's Original Acts", Queen Maya of King Suddhodana of Kakuna gave birth to the prince (i.e. Sakyamuni) under the Bodhi tree in the back garden. The birth of the prince shocked the four directions. There were flying fairies in the sky scattering flowers and playing music for him, and nine dragons spitting water to bathe the prince. One is the founder of Confucianism, and the other is the founder of Buddhism. Both of them had bathing experiences when they were born. Confucius was born after his mother bathed him with dew given by a goddess; and Sakyamuni was born when nine dragons spit water to bathe him. Bathing became the characteristic of their birth, and also made their birth full of mystery. Kong Demao, the 77th-generation granddaughter of Confucius, also recorded the legend of Confucius' birth in "Anecdotes of the Inner House of Confucius Mansion", and said: When I was very young, about three or four years old, the elderly began to tell me the story of Confucius and my ancestors. I have not read any children's books, nor have I heard any other stories, and the many stories I have heard about my ancestors are all mysterious and superstitious. In my impression, Confucius seems to be between man and god, a half-man and half-god, or a god descended to earth. The legend of Confucius' birth is well-known among the world, especially in the Confucius Mansion, and has become a classic for educating and enlightening descendants. From what Kong Demao said, we can deeply feel this. (No pictures available, please provide them.) (No pictures available, please provide them.)
