Tancheng guqin making technique is a traditional handicraft of making guqin by traditional hand. It is mainly distributed at the junction of Miaoshan Town, known as the "hometown of national musical instruments", and Quanyuan Township. The village was built in the late Ming Dynasty, surrounded by mountains on three sides and overlooking Maling Mountain in the east. The history of Chen's guqin making can be traced back to the Hongzhi period of the Ming Dynasty. Chen Ji from Tongcheng, Anhui, protected King Jing of Wei and came to Yizhou. He was awarded the title of Yizhou Wei Qianhu for his merits and was rewarded with a guqin bed by King Jing. His son Chen Bin loved it very much. After being guided by a musician, he was not only good at playing, but also good at making guqin. He was granted the title of General Wuzhi. The Chen family was a famous family and the family was prosperous. It has been passed down for 22 generations. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the family had a deep traditional education and many talents emerged from generation to generation. Chen Shumeng, the 13th-generation grandson of the Chen family, was a scholar in the Qing Dynasty. He once summarized and wrote the book "Chen's Secret Guqin Chart", which was once kept in Chen Deyuan's home. Later, it was borrowed by Chen Tianxiao. In 1990, it was taken away by an antique dealer at a price of 2.6 yuan per page. Its whereabouts are now unknown. Chen Dejiu, the 19th-generation grandson of the Chen family, is the fifth-generation inheritor of the Zhucheng School of Guqin. He is proficient in rhythm and is good at playing and making a variety of national musical instruments. He worshipped Zhan Chengqiu, the fourth-generation inheritor of the Zhucheng School of Guqin, as his teacher and specialized in making guqin. After 1949, Chen Dejiu served as a forest ranger in the Baimahe forest of the production team. In his spare time, he led his son Chen Tiansheng and grandson Chen Naifeng to learn guqin tuning, make guqin and cultivate character, and pass on the art of guqin. Chen Naifeng followed his grandfather to make guqin since he was young, and he knew the craftsmanship by heart. In order to improve the guqin making skills and the quality of guqin, he introduced modern sound technology and created the "guqin musical balance guqin making method" and "guqin pressure-sensitive sound amplification system". The guqin making skills of Tancheng adhere to the ancient method of making guqin. The materials used in making guqin are century-old fir, ginkgo, paulownia, catalpa, etc. After selecting materials, beating embryos, digging grooves, painting, assembling accessories, tuning and other processes, there are more than a dozen steps and nearly a hundred processes, which takes 2-5 years to complete, ensuring the shape, tone and feel of the guqin. The guqin made by the Tancheng guqin making skills has a wide range of sound, deep tone and long lingering sound. As an art, the cultural connotation of Guqin has gone beyond the scope of music. It has accumulated thousands of years of Chinese traditional culture and is inextricably linked to thousands of years of historical politics, cultural life, philosophical aesthetics, literature and art. It is the crystallization of Chinese traditional culture. With its elegant quality of multiple beauties, it attracts people's infinite yearning and pursuit. Its tranquility and peace can make people feel peaceful and calm, and return to the rich spiritual world in their inner nature. In 2020, Guqin making skills were included in the sixth batch of representative projects of Linyi City's intangible cultural heritage. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
