Legend has it that dragons can move clouds and rain, eliminate disasters and bring blessings, and symbolize auspiciousness. Therefore, praying for peace and a good harvest by dancing dragons has become a custom across the country. The Yangzhen Dragon Lantern was born during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty and has been passed down for two to three hundred years. The Yangzhen Dragon Lantern is deeply loved by everyone for its strong northern characteristics, complete and majestic shape, and rough and unrestrained performance. During the performance, it is mostly divided into two giant dragons, red and green. The red one is the fire dragon, which symbolizes prosperity, enthusiasm and the joy of a good harvest; the green one is the water dragon, which means that there will be plenty of rain and good weather in the coming year. The Yangzhen Dragon Lantern not only enriches people's spiritual and cultural life and promotes the development of folk sports, but also uses dragon dancing as a carrier to spread the long-standing Chinese dragon culture, which will be better inherited and carried forward.
