Helmet manufacturing process
The helmets made by Liu Changgui mainly include crowns, phoenix crowns, purple gold crowns, five-buddha crowns, male general helmets, female general helmets, butterfly helmets, general helmets, overlord helmets, and Yama helmets, etc. The accessories include large and small foreheads for generals, large and small foreheads for women, and female makeup heads (including turning caps, ear picks, phoenix braids, straight phoenixes, thread locks, and edge stitching, etc.). The above are martial arts helmets. The literary helmets mainly include king hats, horn scarves, second-grade scarves, bachelor scarves, capes, shawls, martial arts scarves, and official scarves. The production process of helmets mainly includes the following procedures: 1. Beating the cardboard: that is, according to the needs of making helmets, first beat the cardboard for later use; 2. Drying and cutting: After the beaten cardboard is dried, cut the material according to the helmet to be made; 3. Gauze sandwiching: that is, apply gauze to the cut cardboard to prevent the cardboard from breaking; 4. Leaking flowers: Leaking flowers or carving flowers on the cardboard after applying gauze as needed; 5. Closing: That is, use kraft paper to glue the cardboard with leaking flowers together; 6. Wrapping iron wire: Wrap the iron wire required for production with kraft paper and stick it firmly; 7. Brushing base material: Use a mixture of ox glue and ground powder to brush the closed cardboard embryo with base material; 8. Walking powder: Apply base powder to the embryo that has been brushed with base material and then glue it; 9. Coloring: According to the similarities and differences of various helmets, paint the corners after the base powder is dried; 10. Decoration: After the helmet model with good paint is dried, gold and silver powder, firecrackers, white wax beads and other decorations are applied. Craft features: The production of drama helmets is very unique. It is exquisitely crafted, fine, and orderly, and the operator must have a solid foundation. Whether it is the selection of materials, carving techniques, or the styles of helmets of various types of drama, they all seem to contain the ingenious skills that are "not worth telling to outsiders". Production features: There is a fixed pattern for making helmets of different types of dramas and helmets with different names. For example, the Sichuan opera artists commonly call the handsome helmet, gauze hat, Xiangdiao, Wanjuanshu, Duduguan, Zhuangyuantou, and forehead wraps, etc., their appearance styles, patterns, patterns, and the installation positions of the rows of whiskers, beads, and colored balls, etc., all have a set of unwritten traditional formats. As for the desk operation, in general, it can be divided into five processes. Use Ma Ji paper to outline the plane lines of the helmet, and then use a carving knife to carve the shape and the hollow pattern to make the holes clear. This is the first process "drawing the sample". Wrapping the fine lead wire around the fish pond paper and applying the glue with the outer pattern is the preparation for the second process of "threading". "Threading" is the shaping and reinforcement of the helmet. Wrap the fine wire along the outer shape and pattern in turn, take out the special soldering iron that is red in the charcoal stove in time, and hit the joints of the lead wire and the paper plate one by one, so that the heat can melt the glue again and stick them together. The third process is "walking the accumulated powder". The accumulated powder is a mixture of Wan Gao powder and medium glue. When using it, put the accumulated powder into a small canvas bag with a thin iron tube, squeeze out the thin and sticky accumulated powder strips from the mouth, and wrap various patterns around the pattern to increase the beauty and hardness of the plate. The fourth is coloring: gold powder and silver powder are the main colors of the helmet, and other parts are decorated with red, green, blue, white and black paint. The next step is to arrange the whiskers, hang the colored balls, place the beads, hang the pendants, apply the silk powder, sew the sockets, and tie the movable parts.
