Paper-cutting is an artistic hollow art that gives people a sense of transparency and artistic enjoyment visually. Its carrier can be sheet materials such as paper, gold and silver foil, bark, leaves, cloth, leather, and leather. On May 20, 2006, paper-cutting art was approved by the State Council and included in the "First Batch of National Intangible Cultural Heritage List". The history of paper-cutting handicraft art, that is, paper-cutting in the true sense, should start from the emergence of paper. Paper-cutting was already in a period of great development in the Tang Dynasty. The Tang Dynasty paper-cutting now stored in the British Museum shows that the level of paper-cutting handicraft art at that time was extremely high, with complete composition of the picture, expressing an ideal state of heaven and earth. In the Tang Dynasty, stencil printing plates made in the form of paper-cutting also appeared among the people. The papermaking industry was mature in the Song Dynasty, and there were many kinds of paper products, which provided conditions for the popularization of paper-cutting. The scope of application of folk paper-cutting in the Song Dynasty gradually expanded. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the paper-cutting handicraft art matured and reached its heyday. The types of paper-cutting can be divided into monochrome paper-cutting, color paper-cutting, and dyed paper-cutting. Monochrome paper-cutting: also known as "black and white paper-cutting". Refers to paper-cutting of one color. There are red, green, brown, black, white, etc. It is the most popular and the largest type of paper-cutting. Generally speaking, monochrome paper-cutting that beautifies the indoor environment and sets off the festive atmosphere is mostly red, and white is used for embroidery. Monochrome paper-cutting has a strong contrast between reality and illusion, bright and eye-catching black and white, simple and generous style, and strong appeal. Color paper-cutting: It is a kind of color paper-cutting. There are two types: overall color-cutting and partial color-cutting. The method of overall color-cutting is: take positive paper-cutting as the main draft, mostly use black paper and gold paper, after cutting, buckle the front of it on the back of the required various colored papers, use a pencil to outline the shapes to be colored, and then cut them separately, and then stick the cut various colored papers accurately on the back of the main draft according to the required position, with the front facing down. You can also slightly stagger the positions of the colored papers and the outline of the main draft, which will have a different interest. Pay attention to the matching relationship and the main tone of the colors. Partial color-cutting only needs to be carried out in a certain part, and the colors are required to be few and fine, which plays a finishing touch on the picture. Dyeing paper-cutting: It is a kind of color paper-cutting. The term is called "point color". The method is to apply color rendering to the work after cutting. Most of them use rice paper or Lianshi paper. When the paper is thin and easy to be dyed, mix the color with white wine. It has strong permeability and can dye twenty to thirty sheets each time. In order to be suitable for point dyeing, negative engraving is mainly used. The characteristics are bright colors, halo flavor, and strong national characteristics. Dyeing paper-cutting is divided into two types: monochrome dyeing and color dyeing. The color paper-cutting process is unique, and it is dyed by dotting, painting, blurring, over-dyeing, rendering, etc. Paper is the basic material for paper-cutting. If the paper is well selected, it can bring a lot of convenience to cutting. In order to express the needs, you can choose a variety of papers. For artistic paper-cutting, when creating, you should not only pay attention to the material and color of the paper, but also pay attention to its toughness and wear resistance.
