The Dragon Boat Festival is an ancient traditional festival of the Chinese nation. It began in the Warring States Period and has a history of more than 2,200 years. According to the county chronicles of the Qing Dynasty Daoguang edition, "On May 5, people make jiaoshu (i.e. zongzi), hang swords, cattails, mugwort and tigers on the door, drink wine, and compete in boat races in the south of the city." This is enough to show that the folk customs of dragon boat racing and making zongzi in our county have a long history. Main value and impact: The development of dragon boat racing in our county will have a great impact, which includes a large number of local folk customs and folk culture, such as: snatching ducks, lion lantern performances, myth performances, Sichuan opera excerpts, dragon boat night tours, water lanterns, fireworks, dragon lantern dances, making zongzi, wearing various sachets, drinking wine, releasing river lanterns, releasing Kongming lanterns, etc. In particular: in 1987, the third "Qu Yuan Cup" Dragon Boat Race, the highest level in the country, was successfully held; in 1997, with the approval of the State Sports Commission, the 97 Xinjin "Baoshan Cup" National Dragon Boat Race was successfully held, which lasted for three days and attracted nearly 500,000 people. It was the domestic dragon boat race with the highest prize in my country's history; in 2007, the "2007 Chengdu Water City Xinjin Traditional Dragon Boat Race" was successfully held, attracting 200,000 guests from home and abroad, and CDTV?5 broadcast the whole process live.
