Beipiao folk tales are local folk literature in Liaoning Province. They include eight categories, including legends of scenery, legends of characters, fantasy stories, life stories, stories of animals and plants, stories of customs, jokes, and fables. In addition, there are a large number of local folk songs and proverbs. On June 7, 2008, Beipiao folk tales were approved by the State Council to be included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list. Folk literature is a language art created orally and passed on by word of mouth by the masses. Beipiao has a long history and profound cultural accumulation. As an organic part of the spiritual wealth inherited and created by the Beipiao people, Beipiao folk literature will naturally reflect the spiritual outlook of the Beipiao people from all aspects, the unique historical and cultural characteristics and distinctive artistry of Beipiao, a hot land. The local folk legends and stories handed down from generation to generation are precious folk cultural heritages shared by the Mongolian and Han nationalities in Liaoning, with distinct regional cultural characteristics and important scientific, historical and cultural values. Inheritance significance Beipiao folk tales have a strong and simple artistic style, which not only inherits the characteristics of the Han folk literature that is good at narration, but also absorbs the artistic characteristics of the Mongolian folk literature that is good at analogy and description. Beipiao folk tales are characterized by plain language, smooth and natural narrative, vivid characters, rich in the characteristics of Chinese folk literature, exuding a strong local flavor, and high humanistic value. These folk literature works, whether beautiful and moving myths and legends, or thought-provoking folk stories, or vivid and simple folk songs, or folk proverbs that warn future generations, are all the crystallization of the wisdom of the people of all ethnic groups in Beipiao, and are loved by the people. Inheritance status In 1984, Beipiao Cultural Center published the folk story collection "The Song of Tumote". From 1985 to 1987, in the three sets of folk literature integration projects of the major national humanities research project, the 500,000-word "Chinese Folk Literature Integration Liaoning Volume Beipiao Data Book" was published, and won the first prize in the provincial evaluation. In 2008, Beipiao Municipal Bureau of Culture published the first volume of "Beipiao Folk Literature".
