From March 8 to 13, the Miao people in Jiuyang Township, Jianhe County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province, hold the traditional Bridge Respecting Festival. This most solemn local festival is said to have a history of more than 3,000 years. During the festival, families go to the bridge outside the village to worship their ancestors, drink and have fun, and pray for many children and prosperity.
