The Miao ethnic group dances Huapo
The Miao people dance on the flower slope, which is called "Ou Dao" in the local Miao language, meaning "climbing the slope". "Tiaohuapo" is a Chinese name, named after the flowers and trees on the slope, which has a different meaning from the Miao language. Activities are held from the first to the eighth day of the first lunar month every year (from the first to the fifth day of the first lunar month, the flower slope dance is held on the hill of the second group of Yantang in Tiekuishan Village, which the local Miao people call "Xiaonian Dance", and from the sixth to the eighth day of the first lunar month, the dance is held at the gate of the Tieshi Township Government. The local Miao people call it "Da Nian Dance"). On the first day of the new year, the Miao people dressed in their best clothes, carrying reed pipes, flutes, harmonicas, dry food, etc., spontaneously rushed from all directions, playing reed pipes, singing Miao songs, and dancing Miao dances, celebrating the new year in the unique way of the Miao people. In the past few days, the mountains and fields are full of people, some playing Lusheng, some singing love songs, some fighting cocks, some dancing modern dance and Miao dance, some playing finger-guessing games, some talking about relatives, some talking about agricultural production, some talking about the development of breeding, and some talking about the harvest of working outside. Unmarried men and women seize the time to find their "dear ones", so the "Huapo Festival" is also called the "Valentine's Day" of the Miao people. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
