The Torch Festival of the Yi ethnic group is a traditional festival in all Yi areas, and is popular in Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan and other Yi areas. The Torch Festival on the 24th day of the sixth lunar month is the most solemn, grand, spectacular, attended and ethnically rich festival of the Yi ethnic group, and is a grand ceremony for the entire ethnic group. The Torch Festival is usually held on the 24th or 25th day of the sixth lunar month, and lasts for three days. On the 24th day of the sixth lunar month, the handle of the Big Dipper points upward, and all Yi-speaking ethnic groups celebrate the Torch Festival. Some scholars believe that this festival was originally a New Year's festival in the Yi ten-month calendar. The Torch Festival is also called the Star Return Festival, and there is a saying that "the stars return to the sky on New Year's Eve", which is equivalent to the New Year of the Yi calendar. Therefore, it is also called the Big New Year. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.) (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
