Hunan
🎧  Listen to Introduction

Chen's bee therapy, combining bee stinging and bee products as medicine, is a folk specialty therapy that combines medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion under the guidance of traditional Chinese medicine meridian theory. Its tools are simple, only bee boxes, tweezers and live bees are needed for implementation; basic acupuncture methods are divided into point pricking, scattered pricking, straight pricking, spring pricking, oblique pricking, etc.; students are spread across 28 provinces, cities and counties across the country. Chen's bee therapy began in the Kangxi period, and the eighth-generation heir Chen Wei created a "point map" specifically for bee sting therapy. Bee sting therapy has shown good efficacy for common diseases such as gout, cervical spondylosis, and periarthritis of the shoulder in southern Hunan, especially for gout and facial paralysis. It has immediate clinical efficacy. The tenth-generation heirs Chen Haiyan and Zu Xiangmeng further established the "bee sting, Chinese medicine bee products, and medicinal beeswax" triple therapy. In 2018, Mr. Zu Xiangmeng participated in the formulation of the first domestic bee therapy standard "Operation Specifications for Chinese Medicine Bee Sting Therapy" and edited the higher education textbook "Chinese Medicine Bee Therapy and Sub-Health". Chen's bee therapy has a significant therapeutic effect on various chronic diseases and geriatric diseases in an aging society. In recent years, the descendants of Chen's bee therapy have devoted themselves to the bee therapy business, and have made great progress in the integration of medical care and nursing care, health preservation and elderly care, and poverty alleviation and employment.
