Representative of provincial intangible cultural heritage: Qianjiang Lanterns Qianjiang Lanterns are a lantern-making craft that has been preserved by the Qianjiang folks following the custom of watching lanterns during the Lantern Festival and has been passed down from generation to generation. Qianjiang Lanterns include decorative lanterns that are mainly used to decorate, embellish, and set off the environment; themed lanterns that express characters and plots; entertaining lanterns that are mainly interesting and informative; and practical lanterns that directly serve life. The themes of making lanterns include history, humanities, and various species in nature. For example, themes such as flowers, birds, insects, fish, birds and beasts, historical figures, and folk legends are all adopted. The craftsmanship of Qianjiang Lanterns is a complete set of craftsmanship chains from conception and design, modeling technology, and decoration technology. The techniques are diverse and meticulous, giving people a sense of beauty that is ingenious. Qianjiang Lanterns have inherited traditional craftsmanship relatively completely, and carry the folk customs of Chu. They are a historical epitome of traditional Chinese lanterns and have a close relationship with historical culture and regional culture. The structural beauty of its design, the beauty of its finely carved craftsmanship, the harmonious and unified decoration, and the beauty of its lighting use highlight its cultural, technological and scientific value. It has invaluable research value for studying my country's traditional customs and traditional crafts. In the 1970s, Qianjiang enjoyed the reputation of "the hometown of lanterns".
