Xiangba Folk Songs
Xiangba folk songs (Zhuxi folk songs) involve 15 towns and villages in Zhuxi County, and include folk songs, field songs, love songs, grass-pulling gongs and drums, boatman's songs, Zhuxi flower drums, and Zhuxi funeral drums. In 2003, the relevant departments of Zhuxi County published the "Xiangba Folk Song Collection"; in 2005, Xiangba Township of Zhuxi County was named "Provincial Folk Song Hometown" by the Provincial Association of Folk Artists. The singing form of Xiangba folk songs is mostly based on folk songs and love songs. The protagonists of the duets are generally women, and they sing in a female tone to express the ideological connotation of the popular ballads. The ideological connotation of the ballads is mostly based on the style of beauty, virtue, harmony, and resentment, which is used to express the thoughts and emotions of different characters and the distinct personalities of different characters.
