Taizhou root carving art began in the late Qing Dynasty and flourished in the 1980s. In early 1983, the "Taizhou Regional Root Carving Association" was established with Wang Manqing as the president. Zhang Baoxiang from Wenling joined and often organized skill exchanges and exchanges, so that Taizhou's root carving art has been greatly developed on the basis of inheriting the "Chaizhu people" style. Zhang Baoxiang has more than 800 works. Among them, "Yunlong" won the provincial gold medal, and "Ancient" won the silver medal in the provincial competition. The root carving craft relies on the natural texture, veins and block surfaces of the original tree roots. After artificial modification and carving, it presents a unique natural beauty and romantic artistic beauty with a natural and intuitive shape.
