Wen'an County is located in the hinterland of Beijing-Tianjin-Bohai Rim, surrounded by the three major cities of Beijing, Tianjin and Baoding. It is 120 kilometers north of Beijing, 80 kilometers east of Tianjin, and 90 kilometers west of Baoding. The Beijing-Kowloon Railway passes through the county, and three national and provincial highways run through the entire county. Every village is connected by roads, and transportation is very convenient. Wen'an has a history of more than 2,000 years since its establishment in the Western Han Dynasty. The simple environment has created generations of hardworking and simple Wen'an people. The traditional pottery firing technique of Xinzhuang District was born on this ancient land. According to research, the pottery industry in Zhangjiawu Village, Xinzhuang District, Wen'an County originated from the Tian family in Niutun Village, Dong'e County, Shandong Province, and has a history of about 300 years. According to the heir Tian Guangsen, the pottery industry began with his ancestors. Due to famine, they fled from Shandong to Zhangjiawu Village, 10 kilometers southwest of Wen'an County, and settled there, and continued to build kilns and fire pottery. Most of the products are red pottery: clay pots, water jugs, flower pots, molds and other common household items. Due to its exquisite craftsmanship and constantly updated patterns, it is widely circulated in the surrounding areas of Beijing, Tianjin and Baoding. In the 1960s, Tian Guangsen widely taught this traditional craft to the people in the surrounding villages. People used this craft to build many pottery kilns and factories, and made countless daily necessities such as various clay pots and sold them to the vast areas of North China. During the three difficult years, this craft became the main source of livelihood for the people of Xinzhuang Township and maintained the survival of the local people. People have deep feelings for this traditional craft. Due to its exquisite craftsmanship and products, it is still deeply loved by the people in the surrounding areas. After liberation, governments at all levels attached great importance to the pottery industry. Especially in the 1960s and 1970s, county and township leaders specially sent rural work teams to the village to raise funds, guide work, improve some physical facilities, and relatively perfectly preserve this traditional craft. In recent years, the economic tide has submerged this traditional craft. People have all gone to the sea to "pan for gold". The old artists guarded this piece of pottery tools and facilities and sighed. There is a lack of successors. The ancient pottery industry, a folk cultural heritage, is on the verge of being lost and annihilated.
