Mu Laoyuan Township, Shidian County, Baoshan City is one of the settlements of the Bulang people. The Bulang folk songs have a wide variety of repertoires and rich content. The lyrics are highly artistic and literary, and have strong ethnic style and regional characteristics. The Bulang folk songs are mellow and euphemistic, bright and clear, with special vibrato and glissando, especially in female voices. There are generally three forms: solo, duet, and group singing. There are 10 categories of popular folk songs: Guben folk songs, Panhuaming, sister folk songs, horse racing folk songs (also known as Huahua folk songs), Pancaiming, Panyaoming, Panshanming, Jiazi folk songs, Pantianhe, and building big ships. Among them, the content and number of songs in the five categories of Guben, Panhuaming, Pantianhe, building big ships and Jiazi folk songs are fixed, while the content of Panyaoming, Pancaiming, Panshanming and sister folk songs is basically fixed but the number has slightly increased or decreased. Horse racing folk songs are completely different. In addition to the first 8 categories, all of their contents are improvised by singers, and the number is very large. There are dozens of folk songs that are usually sung. One of the most distinctive folk songs is the wedding song, which includes the tune of "separating mother", "separating daughter", "crying brother and sister-in-law", "crying sisters", "scolding matchmaker", "crying out of the house" and other tunes. The lyrics are sad and moving, very infectious, and completely different from the lyrics and style of other folk songs. There are many Bulang singers, and their ability to improvise lyrics is amazing. Some singers can sing for days and nights without running out of songs, words, voices, or throats. Every Bulang village in Shidian County has its own folk song team, and folk singers are everywhere. They have won awards in various provincial, municipal and county competitions many times, including ethnic folk music artists named by Yunnan Province. The inheritance is good, with a group of backbones and young artists aged 6 to 14. Mulaoyuan Township attaches great importance to the Bulang folk song resources. Since 2003, it has held two folk song meetings, which have enlivened the cultural life of the villagers and had a good impact. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
