Luancheng Flower Carrying Pole
Luancheng County is located in the western part of the Jizhong Plain and the southwest of Hebei Province. It is a county in the southeastern suburbs of the provincial capital Shijiazhuang. "Carrying flower poles" is a folk flower dance with local characteristics that is widely spread in the county. It originated from the historical sacrificial ceremony of the "Three Fairies" in the Cangyan Mountain Temple. It is named after the dancers carrying the statues of the Three Fairies on their shoulders. It is the leading dance in the sacrificial dance team and gradually evolved into a square art for the masses to entertain themselves. A pair of flower poles is carried by two people. The poles are made of bamboo. The objects carried are called "pole boxes". The pole leaders hold pole cards in the shape of paddles. The performers are divided into handsome poles (rich poles) and ugly poles (poor poles). When lifting the pole, the pole cannot be above the shoulders and the head cannot be exposed. The pole cannot be supported by hands. Two people perform the performance of lifting in the same direction, facing each other, and back to back. The pole can be as high as the top of the head or as low as the buttocks. The basic movements include "swallows and ducks in the water", "tigers kick their tails", "big wipe sitting", etc. The performance routines include "pearls rolling up the curtain", "five blessings holding longevity", "thirteen Taibao", "twenty-eight constellations", etc. Someone made up a jingle: "Stand up your chest and kick your hips, with your waist as the axis, ride a horse and squat with strength and softness, swing your arms and shake your head with the trembling of the pole, move your feet lightly and twist your body, be funny and lively with a large amplitude, and it leads the way for big and small drivers." It not only describes the movement image and characteristics of lifting the flower pole, but also explains its status in the sacrificial dance team. The entire performance of lifting the flower pole is conducted under the command of the pole leader holding the token. The pole leader is required to "be quick in hand and eye, light in footsteps, swing the token with the sound of the wind. The front leg is bent, the back leg is stretched, and after dancing, you must make a shape (appearance)". There is no musical instrument accompaniment for the flower pole. When the pole is dancing, the pole box vibrates up and down, making the iron ring on the pole box make a clattering sound, which is in tune with the dance. This special accompaniment sound is integrated with the dance, with a special effect and unique interest. The flower pole can be performed alone or in groups. The pole slides continuously on the dancer's head, shoulders, back, buttocks, etc., accompanied by somersaults such as standing, lying, squatting, and lying. The dancer needs to have superb artistic skills to make the pole flip freely. The dance movements are rough and simple, with high ornamental value. Among the many folk dances in China, the flower pole is unique for its simplicity and simplicity, but also for its skills and ornamental value. The discovery, rescue and protection of the flower pole not only enriches and improves Chinese folk dance, but also has a certain academic reference value for the study of other folk arts. At present, due to the changes in the social conditions on which the flower pole depends for its survival and development, the reduction of traditional folk activities, and the aging of the inheritors, there is a situation where the unique skills cannot be passed on.
