Legends of the Eight Scenic Spots of Xunyang (the third batch of provincial level) Xunyang District was historically known as Jiangzhou. It is backed by Mount Lu in the south, bordered by the Yangtze River in the north, and overlooks Poyang Lake in the east. It is a famous cultural city with a history of more than 2,200 years and is also the center of politics, economy, culture and transportation in northern Jiangxi. The scenic spots and natural landscapes are beautiful. The unique geographical location and humanistic environment have nurtured extremely rich and profound cultural heritage, including intangible cultural heritage. Since ancient times, the people of Xunyang have been hardworking and enthusiastic about life, so they have created countless beautiful folk stories. The legends of the Eight Scenic Spots of Xunyang are mainly folk legends about the eight major landscapes in Xunyang District, Langjing, Nengren Ancient Temple, Sixian Bridge, Xunyang Tower, Yanshui Pavilion, Pipa Pavilion, Locking River Tower, and Longyuan in Pengpu. Most of these legends are closely related to famous historical figures, major historical events, or geographical environment and natural scenery at that time. For example, Su Dongpo's drunken writing in Xunyang Tower and Li Shimin's temple construction are all major historical events. These famous historical figures and major historical events have had a wide and far-reaching impact on people's lives. Therefore, people use legends to narrate and praise them. These legends have not only been passed down orally for a long time among the people, but also been loved by the people. The Eight Scenic Spots of Xunyang are not only the historical evidence of the ancient city of Xunyang, but also have a great influence and close connection with the works of later literati. In particular, the legends of figures and historical events have been absorbed by later literati in various writings with different details, becoming a wonderful flower in folk literature. The versions of the legends of the Eight Scenic Spots of Xunyang Ancient City that have been passed down to this day are different, and the legends are only spread among the people orally. In recent years, with the support of the Xunyang District Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center, the majority of folk literature workers in Xunyang have gone deep into the folk, diligently collected and sorted, excavated and rescued these rich and precious cultural heritages, and left a precious treasure for future generations! In June 2010, the project was included in the third batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage representative list.
