Paper-cutting (extended), a traditional art project in the fourth batch of representative projects of Lianyungang's municipal intangible cultural heritage. Guanyun paper-cutting is a traditional folk art in Guanyun. Paper-cutting is to cut white paper or other colored paper into various decorative patterns with scissors and carving knives. It is divided into three methods: cutting, carving and a combination of cutting and carving. Paper-cutting works have many uses, most of which are related to local traditional customs. For example, shoe flowers are made by cutting flower and bird patterns with white paper, pasting them on the shoe side, and embroidering them according to the patterns to make flower shoes. "Shou" pattern, "Double Happiness" pattern, "Wan" pattern, magpie climbing plum, pomegranate and various auspicious and festive flower patterns are used as decorations when decorating new houses. "Double Fish" and other patterns are pasted on washbasins, rice bowls, and happy fish. Guanyun paper-cutting has a wide range of themes, including people, animals, flowers and birds, and the twelve zodiac signs. The styles are different, some are close to realism, and some are clumsy and interesting. Some do not use drafts, often patterns, pick up and cut, and are very skilled. Some people use pencils to draw patterns and cut paper according to the design patterns. With the improvement of living standards since the reform and opening up, the changes in production and lifestyle and the acceleration of the pace of life, many customs have quietly changed. The customs of making flower shoes for girls when they get married and the bride making "returning shoes" have gradually disappeared, and there are very few people who cut shoe flowers. Due to the improvement of housing conditions, the decoration of new houses has been replaced by modern home decoration, and the customs of making live sheds and pasting window flowers have gradually disappeared. Most paper-cut works are collected and appreciated. Traditional paper-cut folk artists are mostly elderly women over 60 years old, and the artist group is gradually shrinking. Among the younger ones, Wu Guidong is more prominent, and is good at combining cutting and engraving. Among the young artists, Guan Yan is the most prominent. She has inherited both family traditions and teacher traditions, is good at pure cutting, and has made outstanding achievements in inheritance and innovation.
