Lianyungang Chaquan
Chaquan, a representative item of the seventh batch of intangible cultural heritage of Lianyungang City, is a traditional sports, recreation and acrobatics item. Chaquan is one of the five major schools of traditional Chinese boxing Changquan that is widely spread among the Hui people. It originated in Shandong Province. Chaquan is also popular in competitive martial arts competitions. It has been promoted and trained by major martial arts teams. The level of Chaquan is also rising. The scope of Chaquan activities is currently in Haizhou District and Lianyun District of Lianyungang City. In the late Ming Dynasty, Japanese pirates often invaded the southeast coast of China. The Ming Emperor ordered Qi Jiguang to be the general to fight against the Japanese pirates, and issued an edict to the world to gather troops to march east to fight against the Japanese pirates and protect the country. Cha Mier (Shangyi), a Hui nationality in Xinjiang, was recruited to fight against the Japanese pirates out of patriotism. However, due to the long journey and changeable climate, he contracted an illness in Luxi during the long journey. Later, he was carefully cared for by the local Hui people and gradually recovered. In return for their care, Cha Shangyi carefully taught his martial arts to the Hui folks. After his death, people named the martial arts he taught as Chaquan to commemorate him. Huaquan was taught by his junior brother Hua Zongqi, so there is a saying that "Chaquan and Huaquan are indistinguishable". Chaquan is famous for its stretching posture and compact movements. Chaquan helps to develop the flexibility of muscles, ligaments and joints. When practicing Chaquan, you should make your fists like meteors, your eyes like lightning, your waist like snakes, your feet like drills, your movements like wind, and your standing like nails. That is, in the process of practicing, no matter whether it is a big movement or a small technique, it must be very fast and agile. At the same time, when performing extremely fast rotation, dodging, or rushing, kicking, and other fighting methods, you can suddenly stop and stabilize. (No pictures yet, welcome to provide.)
