Kazakh clothing
Kazakh costumes have distinct ethnic characteristics and are mainly spread in Ili, Tacheng, Altay and other places in Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, as well as Kazakh settlements such as Barkol Kazakh Autonomous County and Mulei Kazakh Autonomous County. Kazakh costumes have been continuously developed on the basis of the costumes of ancient Wusun, Wak, Naiman, Kelei, Tureke and other tribes or clans. They are made of exquisite materials, well-cut, bright colors, and a wide variety of colors. The colors contain the meaning of auspiciousness and blessings. The fine processing of sewing, embroidery and accessories also reflects the distinct Kazakh ethnic characteristics. Kazakhs have made a living from animal husbandry since ancient times and live a nomadic life following water and grass. In order to adapt to the needs of nomadic migration and the climate of mountainous grasslands, their costumes are mostly handmade with animal skins, livestock skins and various fabrics. Kazakh costumes demonstrate the wisdom and aesthetic taste of the Kazakh people. Inheriting and carrying forward the Kazakh costume tradition is conducive to enriching the treasure house of Chinese national art, strengthening the exchange of Chinese ethnic minority culture with the cultures of other countries in the world, and further deepening the research on the history of national costumes, craftsmanship, and aesthetics.
