Fireworks and Firecrackers Festival In the Yao ethnic group settlements in Lisong and Kaishan Township, the Fireworks and Firecrackers Festival is popular from the first to the fifteenth day of the first lunar month. The festival is selected by each village and remains unchanged. Early in the morning of the festival, the master leads the fireworks, long drums, and lion teams to the Panwang Temple. The lion team and the long drum team each perform, and the master burns incense to Panwang, praying that Panwang will come and celebrate the festival with the Yao people. After the ceremony, the team goes to an open area in the wild to grab fireworks and firecrackers. People from other villages can watch the excitement or participate in the grabbing of fireworks and firecrackers. If the fireworks and firecrackers were won by people from another village last year, during this year's festival, the people of that village will beat the long drums and dance the lions to deliver the won firecrackers as scheduled. The long drum teams and lion teams of the two villages meet together, and there is a lively competition. In addition to dancing posture, the long drum team also competes in pole skills. First, they dance on low poles, then on high poles, and finally on high platforms. Each move is higher than the last. The lion team dances the lion head vividly and skillfully. After grabbing fireworks, the long drum team and the lion team welcome many onlookers into the village, and each household entertains them with a banquet. At night, they first dance the fire dragon. The fire dragon is composed of dragon balls with candles in the middle. The balls can rotate. At night, you can only see a fire dragon circling and rolling. After the fire dragon dance, they will turn to the singing hall to sing. Sometimes, the old people will avoid it wisely, and let groups of young men and women sit around the fire pit, singing lingering love songs, looking for their loved ones, and spend a happy sleepless night.
