"Dalang Dance" is a Zhuang dance in Tiandeng County, Guangxi. It is included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It has a history of 1,391 years. It is a folk dance created by the ancestors of the Zhuang people living in Tiandeng area from the Wude period of the Tang Dynasty to the Jingkang period of the Northern Song Dynasty to thank the gods of heaven and earth for their blessings and to wish for good weather and peace every year. It is used for thanking gods, fulfilling vows, worshipping, and entertainment. The dance is performed in the form of beating "lang", with rice farming life in the farming era as the content, and local folk customs and festivals as the activity time and space. It has the characteristics of simplicity and elegance, seasonality, leisure and entertainment, and has long been loved by the local Zhuang people. The main prop of "Dalang Dance" is a wooden lang, which is a large wooden trough made of a large wood about six feet long and two feet in diameter. Performers are of all ages and genders, and there are many ways of beating, such as two people beating, four people beating, and multiple people beating. "The Zhuang people are beating the wooden rams, raising their arms and swinging their pestles to beat them." When the music of the "Dou Lang Dance" sounded, each person used a wooden pestle more than one meter long to rhythmically beat the wall, bottom and edge of the ram. The movements were cheerful and powerful, the rhythm was steady, and the tone was like a drum, which could be heard from miles away. This expressed the Zhuang people's prayers and desires for a good harvest, prosperity of livestock, happiness and good fortune. The Zhuang Da Lang Dance of Tiandeng County was approved by the county-level expert group in 2007 and became one of the first batch of intangible cultural heritage list items of Tiandeng County. In January 2008, it was approved by the expert group at the Chongzuo City level in Guangxi and became one of the first batch of intangible cultural heritage list items of Chongzuo City in Guangxi. In 2010, the "Dou Lang Dance" of Tiandeng County became an item on the intangible cultural heritage list of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. With its unique ethnic personality and ethnic style, this dance has been favored by more and more people. It has a wide influence not only in Guangxi, but also in Southeast Asia and other regions.
