Hui-style jade carving is an important school in China's jade carving industry, with distribution in Tianchang, Wuhu, Tongcheng, Huangshan, and extending to Hefei, Bengbu and other areas. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Hui-style jade carving was influenced by Hui-style engraving, book engraving and seal engraving in the process of development, and gradually took shape, and with the development of Hui-style architectural skills, it moved to Yangzhou, Suzhou, Beijing and other places. Hui-style jade carving is gentle and delicate, simple and natural. Only Hetian seed materials are selected for carving to maximize the gentle and delicate beauty of jade; there are a lot of innovations in craftsmanship, composition, artistic conception, etc., which fully demonstrates the aesthetic tendency of Anhui literati. In terms of creative themes, Hui-style jade carving is mainly based on realistic themes, with both landscape and pastoral life reflections and lively folk portrayals. The Confucian aesthetic idea of "benevolence" is concentratedly reflected in Hui-style jade carving; in terms of carving techniques, Hui-style jade carving is good at complete conception, ingenious creativity, good use of light and shadow, and shaping with lines. Hui-style jade carving was the first to adopt such techniques as hollowing, hollowing, micro-tube drilling, thin-body craftsmanship, and super polishing. It is good at outline decoration and extremely delicate and complex patterns.
