In the absence of written language, the Kirgiz people after migrating eastwards relied on word of mouth to preserve folk legends and stories with memories of their hometown as the main content, as well as ancient folk songs and folk songs. To this day, there are still a few Kirgiz people who can speak the Kirgiz language, which is "an agglutinative language of the Eastern Xiongnu branch of the ancient Turkic language family," and can tell folk stories.
