"Oh Mo Zhi Er" is translated into Chinese as "Night Music Dance". It is a collective dance performed by the Miao people (Shou Miao branch) of Lalai Village, Limu Township, Luodian County, Qiannan Prefecture, at funerals and New Year's Eve. Luodian County is located in the southern border of Guizhou. In the mountains of more than 3,000 square kilometers, in the deep forests and bamboos under the subtropical climate, there are 21 ethnic minorities living. Lalai Village, the Miao name "Hala" and "Hala Ruonuo" means "well". It is located in the northern part of Luodian County and now belongs to Xinchang Village, Limu Township. The southeast is Banshitu Mountain and the southwest is Dayan Mountain. It is 134 kilometers away from the provincial capital Guiyang and 30 kilometers away from the county seat. Lalai Village has many peaks and cliffs, like a stone forest, with a staggered and beautiful scenery. The performance of "Oh Mo Zhi Er" is generally performed in two situations: funeral and sacrificial ceremonies and New Year's Eve. The performance form is a collective dance of men and women. It is performed by four to eight people playing leather drums; two people playing bronze drums and one person playing cymbals; eight to twelve people playing baba sticks and no less than four male and female dancers. The whole dance is performed in three parts: "beating drums", "dancing with handkerchiefs" and "night music". The first part: the bronze drum player beats the cymbals as the "introduction". Then the four leather drum players standing next to the two leather drums start to dance according to the drum beats, and the rhythm gradually speeds up. Sometimes they beat the edges with drumsticks, and sometimes they hit each other under the knees, behind the back, and on the top of the head with two drumsticks, doing movements such as "cow rubbing back", "insect twisting waist", "tiger rolling", "chicken fighting", etc., accompanied by clever movements of wrists, elbows, arms, left or right, front or back, and the natural shaking of the head and shoulders and the kicking of the calves, the forward twisting and stopping of the dance posture, giving people a romantic, free and easy, vigorous and proud image. The second section: performed by four to eight male and female actors or all female actors. The dancers hold handkerchiefs or towels in both hands, and are divided into two groups, facing each other from both sides of the stage, doing "turning footsteps" and filing out. According to the changes in the drum beats, they change from time to time the movements of "shaking hands and raising feet", "holding waist and raising feet", "holding waist and kicking feet", "holding waist and clapping hands and raising feet", "holding waist and turning feet", "brushing face and shaking towel", "bow step and shaking towel". Turning feet, twisting waist and swinging hips are the prominent features of this dance section. The shape is elegant and unique, the movements are light and graceful, and full of charm. The third section is a collective group dance. The rhythm suddenly speeds up, the sound of bronze drums is sonorous and harmonious, like the sound of a huge bell; the sound of leather drums, the sound of cake sticks, and the shouts of "ho ho" of the crowd play a majestic mountain rhythm. At this time, the dance scene has repeated changes in high and low areas. The high area highlights the "back rolling" dance of the two baba stick players and the dance scene of "breaking the four gates"; the low area is the dancers facing each other in two columns and doing the "kneeling step and shaking the handkerchief" action. The dance posture is rough, bold, vigorous and powerful, accompanied by the drum beats of the leather drum player as fast as a rainstorm and the fast and superb drumming skills, pushing the whole dance to a climax, and the whole dance suddenly ends at the climax of the night music carnival. "Oh Mo Zhi Er" is played by the bronze drum player with drums and cymbals, and the leather drum player beats the leather drum to unify the whole dance. The bronze drum is suspended in the middle of the wooden frame beam. The bronze drum player stands on the right side of the bronze drum, holding the drum hammer in his right hand, bending forward and hitting the heart of the drum one to three times per beat. The left hand holds a bamboo stick and beats the bronze drum hammer in time with the half-cymbal hanging next to the bronze drum. The drum beats and the baba sticks are in time with the bronze drum beats. Example: () lǐ = the sound between the drum edges, the cymbals, the drumsticks, and the sticks. () tóng = the drum core of the bronze drum and the leather drum, and the sticks hitting the ground. 0 = rest "Oh Mo Zhi Er" has no plot, but only expresses a certain joyful and happy mood. The dance style of the whole dance is fiery, vigorous, and spectacular. Its movement characteristics are mainly the swing of the waist and shoulders, the twisting of the hips, and the turning of the feet. The dance movements are rough and bold, warm and vigorous, grand, vigorous and powerful, and elegant and unique, light and graceful, with distinct dance rhythm characteristics. In the rhythm and rhythm, the flexibility of the human body is shown through the relatively superb movements and skills of beating drums, dancing handkerchiefs, and beating sticks. It is limited to the "unique" inheritance of Lalai Village and is a precious cultural relic. The inheritance of "Oh Mo Zhi Er" is within the tribe, so this dance is not widely spread and is only circulated in Lalai Village. In the Qing Dynasty, the dance was passed down from the Lalai village elders Lin Xiaoping and Lin Yongjun to their nephews Lin Wensheng, and then to Lin Changyuan. Currently, there are few inheritors who can master and dance this dance. Most young people work outside and rarely participate in this activity.
