Mompox or Mompxc3xb3s, officially Santa Cruz de Mompox, is a town and municipality in northern Colombia, in the Bolxc3xadvar Department, which has preserved its colonial character.

Santa Cruz de Mompox, located in the swampy inland tropics of northern Colombiaxe2x80x99s Bolxc3xadvar Department, was founded about 1539 on the Magdalena River, the countryxe2x80x99s principal waterway.
