Hxe1xbaxa1 Long Bay or Halong Bay (Vietnamese: Vxe1xbbx8bnh Hxe1xbaxa1 Long, IPA:xc2xa0[vxc3xaenxcbx80 hxc3xa2xcbx90xcbx80 lawxc5x8bm] (listen)) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and popular travel destination in Quxe1xbaxa3ng Ninh Province, Vietnam.
[9] In 1994, the core zone of Ha Long Bay was listed as a World Heritage Site according to Criterion VII, and listed for a second time according to Criterion VIII.
In 2000, UNESCO's World Heritage Committee inscribed Hxe1xbaxa1 Long Bay in the World Heritage List according to its outstanding examples representing major stages of the Earth's history and its original limestone karstic geomorphologic features.
Hxe1xbaxa1 Long Bay was first listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994,[21] in recognition of its outstanding, universal aesthetic value.
In 2000 the World Heritage Committee additionally recognised Ha Long Bay for its outstanding geological and geomorphological value,[12] and its World Heritage Listing was updated.
The Department takes into account the requirements of the World Heritage Convention, recommendations of the World Heritage Committee and other regulations issued by both the Vietnamese Government and the Quang Ninh Province.
These include Ha Long Bay to 2020, the master plan on conservation, management and development of the values of World Natural Heritage approved by the Prime Minister in 2001, and the Comprehensive Management Plan for the Ha Long Bay World Heritage Site 2010 - 2015 approved by the provincial authority in 2010.
